Description
Views of Somma's Sandwich Shop, 361 Congress Street.
Somma's opened on Congress Street, next door to First Baptist Church, in 1979 after relocating from 71 Merrill Street (where the business began in 1977, in the former Merrill Street Market). 361 Congress had previously been the site of Park Department Store.
Somma's added a 2nd floor to their building in 1983. The church was demolished in September 1987, and Somma's closed two months later as the land on Congress Street between Pearl Street and Wilmot Street was purchased for redevelopment.
