Description
Portrait of Thai Cao-Nguyen, standing in front of the Cao-Nguyen Vietnamese Restaurant, 29 Exchange Street. Owned by Mr. Duc Cao-Nguyen and Mrs.Thai Cao-Nguygen, their restaurant was in the former "Mister T's" sandwich shop space, and was Portland's first Vietnamese restaurant. During the day Cao-Nguyen served meatball and ham sandwiches (as "Mister T's" offered), and in the evenings the fare changed to Vietnamese and Chinese food.
In 1984, the space at 29 Exchange Street became home to the Hu Shang Chinese restaurant.
