Description
"Marchers carrying the flags of the United States, Canada, and Maine lead a parade through Portland Saturday to celebrate the city's first gay and lesbian pride weekend. More than 200 marchers filed through the city from Deering Oaks to Monument Square. They were escorted by Portland police, who kept a handful of taunters away from the march. The parade capped a weekend of speeches, gatherings, and seminars, organized by Maine gay and lesbian groups."
