    Description

High-angle view of triangular block flanked by Middle Street (left), Temple Street (foreground), and Federal Street (right). Free Street is in the background, left.

The block was nicknamed "The Golden Triangle" after all the buildings lining these streets were demolished (ca.1968-1974), during the Maineway urban renewal projects (which began in 1963).
A 1966 aerial view can be seen at this link
    .

The triangle was eventually filled by the construction of the One City Center, office building, which opened in 1985.
