Abstract

Because Deborah Libby, Freeport's embattled rescue chief, has changed lawyers, Freeport Town Manager Dale Olmstead has said he will not make a decision on whether to fire her from her job until after having the opportunity to meet with Thomas Benjamin, her new attorney. Olmstead has said he intends to fire Libbey because of her abusive treatment of some rescue workers. Libby claims the town manager is seeking retaliation because she told a reporter and the state Department of Environmental Protection about the improper removal of asbestos from a town building last summer.
