Abstract

Bath Iron Works will bid on the contract to convert the USS Inchon from a helicopter carrier to a minesweeper, a job expected to last around 14 months and involve 1 million man-hours of work. BIW, which will be one of at least eight East Coast shipyards bidding on the project, believes the job would keep between 500 and 700 workers busy at the Portland Dry Dock facility.
