Abstract

The Bartlett Circle affordable housing project in Yarmouth, built in the 1970s with some Federal Housing Authority funds, ran into problems when it starting converting the 28-unit project to Monitor heaters. The kerosene heating units are prohibited under FHA rules, prompting the Yarmouth Senior Housing Inc.'s board of directors to refinance the project through the Bath Savings Insitution. The new arrangement frees the project from FHA rules prohibiting kerosene heaters, and will result in decreased energy costs for residents. Details.
