Abstract

The Bar Harbor-based Wild Blueberry Association of North America has launched a promotional effort designed to make wild blueberries as recognizable to consumers and food-packaging companies as better-known products such as Columbian coffee. The campaign, dubbed the "Wild Advantage," could benefit the nearly $100 million-a-year Maine wild blueberry industry by enhancing brand identity. Popular brands command premium prices, so brand identity and loyalty could turn into increased sales and higher profits for the state's eight blueberry processors. Details.
