Abstract

Federal Census Bureau projections indicate that Maine's over-65 population will grow from 13.7 of the total population last year to 18.3 percent in 2020, giving it the fifth-largest elderly population in the nation. The state's white population is expected to decrease from 98.5 percent of the total in 1993 to 97.7 percent of the total in 2020. Details.
