Abstract

The Portland City Council last night voted 7-2 in favor of creating a Tax Increment Financing district for Longfellow Inc., which plans to renovate the former Crosby-Laughlin site on Fore Street. Under the plan, the building will generate $1.7 million in new taxes over the next 11 years, and $1.1 million of that amount will be returned to owner Fred Forsley to be spent on renovations. Forsley will house the Shipyard Brewing Co. in part of the building, and hopes to rent out the rest. Details.
