Maine Attorney General Michael Carpenter yesterday said that one pledge from the Clinton Administration has satisfied the nation's attorneys general, but the group wants more assurances about the status of states under the latest General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. Carpenter, representing a coalition of attorneys general, on Friday met with aides to U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor, and said that the talks made progress in addressing state concerns.
