Abstract

Temporary Shelter Inc., a 30-bed shelter that serves all of Aroostook County, is asking the federal government to reopen the process for claiming Loring Air Force Base under the federal McKinney Act. The law mandates that the nation's homeless get top priority for the reuse of surplus government buildings and that the government seek out homeless providers with an interest in the buildings. David J. Caron, president of Temporary Shelter, is upset that his agency wasn't contacted before last month's deadline for filing a claim.
