Abstract

Businesses and industry in Westbrook say they are willing to contribute money and manpower to an effort to create a municipal electric utility, a proposal that could cut industrial electric bills by 60 percent and help keep the S. D. Warren Co. paper mill in operation. The Westbrook City Council has authorized spending $11,700 to do research work on the proposal prior to a public hearing September 12 and a referendum in November. Details, related articles.
