Abstract

The York Group of insurance companies has filed a restructuring plan, under which the York Mutual Insurance Co. would transfer its assets to a subsidiary, York Holding Co., and then cease to exist. The change is wanted because mutual companies cannot seek investments or sell stock. Michael McSally, president and chief executive officer, believes that access to investment capital would allow the company to grow 10 percent a year over the next several years.
