Last week, the Belfast City Council gave first reading to a six-month moratorium on single commercial retail development over 25,000-square-feet and combined development over 50,000-square-feet. A final vote is scheduled this week. Meanwhile, Ralph Harvey, Searsport's first selectman, said if Wal-Mart can't go into Belfast, Searsport would be interested in talking with them.
