"News" piece on CCB, a Westbrook-based unionized commercial construction company
"News" piece on CCB, a Westbrook-based unionized commercial construction company that has operated in the Portland area for more than 50 years. The company has become an unlikely ally in organized labor's campaign against exploitation in the building trades. While other construction companies are protesting a proposed "responsible employer" ordinance being considered by the city of Portland, CCB is supporting the measure. The ordinance would require companies bidding on city contracts worth more than $25,000 to carry health insurance for employees, to hire through a local apprentice training program and to maintain certain staffing levels.
