Abstract

Dr. Jessie Schaumburg of Greater Portland Health and Inza Ouattara, State Refugee Health Coordinator at the Office of Maine Refugee Services, discuss health issues common among refugees, asylees, asylum seekers, and undocumented immigrants. Describes the common physical and mental health needs of these communities and the barriers - from language to bureaucracy - which impede their care. The coronavirus pandemic and lack of full MaineCare coverage for asylum seekers and undocumented immigrants are mentioned.
