Abstract

Reflections on the Asian American experience in the U.S., in the wake of the #StopAsianHate movement and the COVID-19 pandemic, and how politicians engage with this group in the lead-up to the mid-term elections. Includes a more in-depth look the harmful language U.S. politicians and voters often use to talk about China, language which frequently perpetuates stereotypes and tries to keep Asian Americans on the margins of American political life.
