Abstract

A look at the governor's current budget proposal and the aspects of it that would most impact New Mainers. Among the contentious issues: the governor's proposal to reduce food assistance to immigrants, and proposed cuts to the Medicare Savings Plan. Also in question is the $107 million the governor wants to put into the "rainy day" fund; advocates for New Mainers argue that this money could be better spent creating a rent relief program.
