Abstract

Describes the third annual Beautiful Blackbird Festival, held in Portland, Lewiston, and Rockland. The festival, created by Marcia and Daniel Minter of Indigo Arts Alliance, honors the legacy of author and illustrator Ashley Bryan and celebrates children's books written or illustrated by Black authors. The festival held in-person events for the first time, which included Sierra Leonean American Aminata Conteh reading the picture book "Thank You, Omu" and artist Ebenezer Akakpo leading art activities for kids, among scores of other readings and activities.
