Abstract
Profile of U.S. District Court Judge Gene Carter, 60, a native of Milbridge who was raised in Bangor. Carter served three years on the Maine Supreme Judicial Court before becoming a federal judge in 1983. Recently released documents indicate Carter went too far in trying to settle a lawsuit brought by Gilbert and Harvey Prawer against Fleet Financial Group, Recoll Management Corp., the Portland law firm of Verrill & Dana and Verrill & Dana attorneys Benjamin Zuckerman and Anne Dufour, and then tried to cover up what he had done.
