Abstract
"City" piece on Outright, a Portland program that tries to provide gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or questioning youth under 22 years old with a safe, supportive environment. Outright was started in 1987 by Diane Elze and a group of Portland youth, and is now managed by Cathy Kidman, a graduate student at the University of New England. The group currently serves 150 youth, and is moving toward becoming a nonprofit organization.
