Abstract

"City" piece on Maine Won't Discriminate, the coalition that formed to defeat referendum Question One last November. MWD's local chapters met in Augusta on February 10, and agreed to restructure the organization. The local groups would set their own agendas for action, and would communicate through a new umbrella group called the Maine Equal Rights Network. MERN will monitor potential candidates, and would coordinate efforts to pass a state civil rights law and measures to preserve and expand legal protections for gay marriages. Details.
