Abstract
The Maine College of Art has a solid reputation as being one of the better small art colleges in the nation, but offers little in the way of career guidance. MECA has only just begun to track alumni, and the school had hopes that alumni donations would pay for part of the renovation of the Porteous building on Congress Street in Portland. Some MECA graduates feel neglected by the lack of postgraduate support, and current administrators are working hard on the problem of alienated alumni. Profiles of Frank O'Connor, who studied sculpture; Jay York, a photography student; Julienne Reed, a painter; Michelle Grennan, a 1994 alumna of the metalsmithing and jewelry department; and Joe Kievett, a painter.
