Abstract
Feature article on Pride 1996, the tenth anniversary of the Portland gay community's biggest annual event. Michael Rossetti of Portland organized the first Pride day on June 6, 1987, and has been involved with the celebration ever since. Laurie Fortman has volunteered her services for the past three years, and has spent two hours every day for the past year working on Southern Maine Pride. Portland's Pride has become a $15,000, ten-day celebration that draws people in chartered buses from Boston. Details, schedule of events, related editorial and essay.
