Abstract
State inspectors have ruled some paint on steel intended for the middle span of the new Portland-South Portland Bridge failed to meet environmental guidelines. The state asked the supplier, Tampa Steel Erecting Company, to repair the problems. Thomas Doe of the Maine Department of Transportation said any delays in the work schedule due to the problems would be minor.
