Abstract

"City" piece on the sale of drug paraphernalia in Maine. The Paris Adult Bookstore of Lewiston sells marijuana pipes and scales to measure product, and head shops in that city and in Brunswick operate largely without interference from the police. Shop owners in Portland are wary of the police, after a 1989 incident in which Vincenzo DePaolo's Treasure Chest on Pine Street was raided and items were confiscated. Police in the rest of Maine have varying tolerance for pot pipes on store shelves. Details.
