Abstract
Jim Oliver left the Portland West Neighborhood Planning Council in 1995 for a position with the Peace Corps supervising operations in Suriname and Guyana. Oliver is now working as a Peace Corps recruiter in Boston. Brendan Daily, a Peace Corps spokesman in Washington, D.C., said recruiting jobs are usually filled by volunteers returning from field service, rather than management-level officials. Oliver has been visiting language departments at Maine universities and colleges looking for teachers fluent in French who might want to join the Peace Corps.
