Abstract
Donna Hanson of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Portland said an estimated 5,000 attendees of the Harley-Davidson Owners Group spent $3.5 million during last week's convention. Convention participants estimated participation at 3,000 to 5,000, and some businesspeople dispute the $3.5 million figure. The convention's biggest contribution to the area could be in its promotional value. The Christian Motorcycle Association, based in Arkansas, will hold its annual convention in Portland in September, and roughly 250 HOG members will make a two-day reappearance here.
