Abstract
"City" piece on housing alternatives for people who are homeless and mentally ill. Three women this month moved into a four-bedroom supported-living apartment on Ellsworth Street in Portland. The apartment, called Ellsworth Place, is a six-month pilot program, and if successful will be the permanent home of the women. Ellsworth Place is a joint program of Shalom House and Holy Innocents, with funding from the state. Ellsworth Place is not considered a group home, and does not need special zoning or neighborhood approval. Details.
