Abstract

"City" piece on Joe Ricci's lawsuit against Portland police. Ricci was arrested at the Holiday Inn in Portland on September 7, 1996, for refusing to leave the bar. Ricci filed suit in Cumberland County Superior Court in July against the city of Portland and the Portland Police Department for malicious prosecution and civil rights violations. Peg Manson, the bartender who asked Ricci to leave the bar, has contradicted the testimony of Portland Police Detective John Virginio.
