Abstract
"City" piece on the proposed new Exit 7B of the Maine Turnpike, which would run behind the Pine Tree Shopping Center on Brighton Avenue. Entrepreneurs have been buying up property along Brighton Avenue, between Rand Road and Capisic Street, since the Maine Turnpike Authority begin seeking environmental approval for the proposed exit. Portland City Councilor Tom Kane wants the Portland Planning Board to study the rapid growth of commercial development threatening residential neighborhoods in the area.
