Abstract

"Edge" piece about Live Action Role Playing (LARP), a game like Dungeons and Dragons in which people engage in role playing. With a description of a LARPing game, called Haven, that was held the last Saturday in May at a lecture hall on the University of Southern Maine's Gorham campus, when packs of werewolves, vampires, mummies and other creatures descended upon the hall. Haven was led by Matt Amoroso, a local optician and sci-fi fan. Haven was founded about four years ago by Todd Estabrook,who was Amoroso's roommate. Estabrook borrowed ideas designed to facilitiate tabletop and live-action role playing games from books by White Wolf, a fantasy publisher. Details.
