Abstract
"Stop the Presses" piece on Frank Blethen, publisher and chief executive officer of the Seattle Times Co., which recently purchased Guy Gannett Communication's Maine newspapers. Blethen, who believes that the imposition of inheritance taxes by the federal government is hastening the demise of the family-owned newspaper, co-founded a group called "Committee to Repeal the Death Tax" and ran prominent ads for the group in The Seattle Times. With details on other ways Blethen has boostered pet causes.
