Abstract
The Teamsters union claims it pulled out of an October 2 union election at the Portland YMCA because it didn't think it could win, but pro-labor employees at the YMCA say they were abandoned and given only two days notice before the pullout. Employees claimed they had enough support to win, but some thought the pullout was for the best and that employees could now negotiate with management to organize for a better workplace on their own.
