Abstract
"City" piece on state representative Steve Rowe of Portland who, with his seat in the 119th Legislature secured, is running unopposed by any other Democratic legislator for the position of Speaker of the House. In December, House members will elect a replacement for Speaker Elizabeth Mitchell, a Democrat who was barred by term limits from seeking re-election. With Democrats in the majority, Rowe is the heir apparent. Even House Republican Leader Jim Donnelly of Presque Isle said Rowe is one of the best people the Democrats could have chosen for the job. With a run-down on area state House and Senate races.
