Abstract
"from the outside" piece on Ted Regan, who left his executive lifestyle in New York, moved back to Maine and has devoted the last eight months of his life to raising money for AIDS. Last year he organized "Velvet," a swanky fashion show that generated a $10,000 check for Portland's AIDS hospice, Peabody House. This year he hopes the Second Chance Prom, which takes place May 1 at the Portland Club, will net $15,000. Half will be donated to the 1999 Boston-to-New York AIDS Ride 5, and the other half will go to Rippleffect, a nonprofit foundation set up to fund Regan's solo kayak AIDS awareness journey from Lubec to Florida, which is slated to begin May 2.
