Abstract

"from the outside" piece on the "Walk With the One You Love" event, which will take place on June 20 on Portland's Back Cove Walkway. The walk is sponsored by the Maine Speakout Project and is organized by its executive director, Jonathan E. Lee. Lee, who hopes the event will draw over 100 participants from the gay, lesbian, straight and bi communities, said this second annual saunter of solidarity was born out of a need to educate by calling attention to the fact that gay or lesbian people don't feel safe to stroll about with the one they love like straight people do.
