"Cover Story" piece on air pollution in Maine. According to Jim Brooks, director of the Bureau of Air Quality for the state Department of Environmental Protection, auto emissions play a major role and more than any one single-point source of pollution. Dr. Paul Liebow, a physician at hospitals in Bangor and Houlton, says air pollution in Maine causes between 150 to 200 early deaths and up to 2,000 extra visits to emergency rooms every year.
