Abstract
"City" piece on the controversy concerning Portland's small, neighborhood elementary schools. The Portland School Committee has indicated it will advocate keeping all 14 of them open. But city councilors, who are ultimately responsible for funding the $76.8 million project to improve the schools, are questioning the committee's commitment.
