Abstract
When the Maine Department of Transportation agreed to buy 30 acres around the Eastern Promenade for a trail from Canadian National Railroad last spring, it insisted on preserving a 26-foot-wide rail corridor as part of the deal The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and Museum wants to place narrow-gauge tracks alongside the proposed trail, a proposal that Portland Trails, a local land trust, and the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization oppose. The Portland Planning Board will hold a public hearing on June 28 prior to deciding on the rail proposal. Details.
