Abstract

"Newsreal" piece reporting that abusive men in Greater Portland are invoking O.J. Simpson's name while battering or threatening to batter women. The Simpson incident has raised awareness of domestic abuse and should help a new Portland project aimed at dealing with domestic abuse, but at the same time has spawned terror among some women and resulted in an increase in calls to the Family Crisis Shelter's hotline.
