Abstract

"City" piece on a proposal by Portland mayor Cheryl Leeman and city councilors Nathan Smith and Nicholas Mavodones that would let the public speak during Portland Planning Board workshop meetings. Some members of the planning board are unhappy with the proposal. The city council will vote on the proposal April 2 in response to a May 1 municipal referendum calling for more public input and an earlier opportunity for citizens to influence the board's decisions.
