Abstract

"City" piece on the shortage of experienced teachers in Portland. Over the next five years, potentially 30 percent of the city's educators and administrators could choose to retire. If only half of those retire, that's a loss of 2,275 educators, or an average of 455 veteran teachers a year. With relative statistics for the 1998-1999 school year.
