Abstract

"City" piece on the University of Southern Maine's Portland campus expansion plans, which do not include new dormitories. More students will be looking for apartments and residents of the Oakdale area say the increasing housing pressure is changing the nature of their neighborhood. Many single-family homes are being converted to apartments and as the population shifts from stable to transient, area residents anticipate rising rents and parking problems.
