Abstract
"Cover Story" piece on Greater Portland's lack of programs for treating postpartum depression and raising community awareness of the disease, which affects about one out of every 10 mothers and can last a few weeks or a few years. Currently, Portland has one program dealing with the disease, the Postpartum Depression Education, Referral Services and Support Group, which is a service funded by Maine Medical Center. With special focus on several Portland area women who have struggled with the disease.
