Abstract

"City" piece on how difficult it is for a pedestrian to cross an intersection in Portland. But according to police records, only 16 drivers have been cited since January for failure to yield to pedestrians, which can cost a driver $123. Next spring, the city council's public safety committee intends to discuss the issue and possibly draft new rules on placement and use of signs. With details about when vehicles must stop for pedestrians, and how a pedestrian can register a complaint against a driver.
