Abstract
Congress Street merchants have asked the city of Portland to disperse the Wednesday farmers market stands along the street between Monument and Congress squares rather than having all of them at Monument Square, saying it will help attract shoppers into their businesses. The farmers prefer to remain in Monument Square, and have hired lawyer Gary Libby to deal with the city. Farmers are also concerned about the possibility of not being allowed to set up in Deering Oaks on Saturdays next year.
