Abstract
"City" piece on a new teen advocacy effort being started at Portland's Preble Street Resource Center. Currently, 150 to 200 teens and adults use the existing advocacy program, which offers help finding housing, mental-health counseling, employment and other needed services. But Darryl Dotson, a consumer advocate at the center, said the teens are leery about working with the adults. The teen advocacy program would probably be modeled along the same lines as the existing program, but it would use teens as advocates rather than adults, Dotson said.
