Abstract
"City" piece on a plan by the city of Portland to widen outer Washington Avenue at Allen's Corner. The plan is being redrafted because the current version would require taking about six feet from the parking lots of some businesses, which they can ill afford to lose. The project currently has only $257,000 in funding, though Holly Anderson, the state's project manager, estimates the widening will cost about $600.000.
